MUSIC EDUCATION AT SARATOGA HIGH 

​MESH Program
"MESH" stands for "Music Education with Saratoga High," a unique and independent student-run mentorship program opportunity between music students at Saratoga High School and SUSD/Redwood music students. MESH was started by 2007 Redwood alumnus/2011 SHS alumnus and now UCSF physician Dr. Walter Hsiang in 2010, who played both trumpet and cello and has been continued through SHS music student leadership ever since. 

MESH Private Lessons
MESH serves our students by providing individual private lessons/mentorship for music students in SUSD. While nothing can ever replace the master knowledge and experience of working with a professional private teacher, MESH is an excellent way for young students to get some additional, individualized support from a high school student who has gone through the same challenges and similar trials on a common instrument, as well as a "practice buddy" who can help students develop good practice habits and efficiency in improving on their instrument in guiding them toward more improvement and increased proficiency. More proficient students can use MESH as an opportunity to have a high school mentor to regularly play duets, trios, and chamber ensemble music with, too. Lessons can also be provided in small groups!

Better yet, lessons may occur either online or in-person at the SHS music building or at a student's home, depending on the comfort level of the family.
